2009 Pony Trail

 

 

Big changes are planned for this year’s Pony Trail.  First off, we’re hitting the road at 10 am to give everyone plenty of time to drive to Carrollton where we will begin from General Butler State Resort Park, the site of our annual show.   Registration begins at 8:30 am.

 

Then we drive through scenic Kentucky backroads to the  brand new Bluegrass Motorsports Park in Sparta, KY.  This facility just opened in Spring of 2009 and is only 4 miles from the Kentucky Speedway where we have gone in the past.   

 

At the heart of park is a 2.5-mile road course with a 3200' front straight, and over 120' of elevation change through positive and negative camber turns - totally different from driving on a traditional racetrack!  Take a virtual lap of the course by clicking here.    To view a map of the site plan, click here.

 

Then we will travel to Elk Creek Vineyards.  We went there as part of the 2008 Pony Trail and received very positive feedback from everyone.  You may join in on a tour of the winery, or, for a nominal charge, you may take part in a tasting of their award winning wines.  

 

The charge for the Pony Trail is $15 which includes driving the course at Bluegrass Park.   Lunch will be provided by the Hunt Club (next door to the winery).  Cost for the lunch is $8.95 (includes drink, tax & tip) with a choice of hamburger, hot dog or chicken.
