October is Fordfest Month for Derby City Mustang Club. This year we enlisted the help of the J-Town ROTC unit to help the club with setup and to provide the opening Color Guard. They were a welcome addition to our efforts. View the setup pictures in our FlickR feed. Friday Oct 13 was our Pony Trail which began at Bill Collins Ford, traveling through the beautiful Fall colors on back roads to local farm with pumpkin patch, hayrides, petting zoo and local foodstuffs, over 24 cars took part. We then traveled more back roads to New Castle KY and had lunch at the 18 Main Street Bar & Grill where the food was excellent and the service super. Their regular lunch crowd was warned those Mustang people were coming to take over the lunch counter! Then it was back to Bill Collins to finish the trail. A great time was had by all, the weather was perfect, the camaraderie was evident, a very successful Pony Trail. View the Pony Trail Pictures at our FlickR feed. Saturday Oct 14th was FordFest, over 277 cars / participants were involved, Fords of all vintages were present, new and vintage. The J-Town ROTC unit helped open the event by presenting the Colors as the National Anthem was played. The cars were judged and awards presented at the Awards Dinner. Vendors showed their wares, people viewed the classics along side the latest and greatest Mustangs Ford produces. The DCMC raised $3000 for the Bill Collins Parkinson Foundation and over $2500 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Fordfest was a total success and plans are underway to make 2018 even better. Thanks to all who attended, who showed their vehicles and all who helped make 2017 Fordfest a reality!
