World Equestrian Games Closing Ceremonies - 10/10/2010 Derby City Mustang Club was approached by Kevin Collins from Bill Collins Ford and asked if we would like to participate in the World Equestrian Games closing ceremony, which of course the club said yes. So Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, twenty club members with convertibles, of all colors and years gathered at the I-64 Simpsonville, KY exist and caravanned to the I-64 rest stop in Woodford County where we where greeted by a Kentucky State Trooper, who then escorted us to the Horse Park in Lexington. After a security check which included bomb sniffing dogs, we were led into the show arena and parked around the show field where we had front row seats to view the show, which included a parade of the participants from all over the world and a speech by Kentucky State Governor Brashear, Princess Hussein of Dubai, President of the World Equestrian Games and other assorted speakers. We concluded the day's ceremony with a concert by Lyle Lovett. DCMC members exited and then did what we do best....hunted for a Cracker Barrel and finished off the day by eating and socializing. Ending our excursion we were all proud to show and drive our Mustangs on a beautiful day; we got to know one another better and certainly received great exposure for club. Traveling to the Horse Park on I-64 was like a moving car show and many cars that passed us gave a "thumbs up" at the sight of such a long string of great looking MUSTANGS! Thanks to all who took part in this fun event.

Jason Sieber, Crescent Hill Council thanked us for taking part in the event and offered free popcorn to all of us. He also had the DCMC logo and the SIP logo on the screen before the show. Dave Payne President - 9/11/2010 David completed the restoration of 1965 Shelby tribute for Linda. David and Ronnie located this car in West Virginia. David has been working on it since the Fall of 2005. Of course, after years of restoration the car needs a name, and since the restoration has had its ups and down just like the cruise where they were told about the car, they got stuck in the middle of hurricane 'Wilma'. It was the ride of their lives with 50 foot swells. The cruise was extended out in the Atlantic for two extra days due to the port at Fort Lauderdale being wiped out. Therefore, Linda said, this car has to be named "Wilma".

DCMC 2nd Annual Picnic - 7/1/2010 Our Road Captain Roger Goodin hosted the Second Annual Summer Picnic. Club members brought covered dishes and the club furnished the meat and drinks. It was a toss-up with the weather but Roger worked his magic again and it was perfect, with low humidity and cool breezes nobody was disappointed. Roger and Steve were our chefs, grilling burgers, hot dogs and brats. Donna Goodin had contacted the J-town police department and invited them to dinner asking that they select the best Mustang. They were pleased to judge everyone's Mustang and informed David Payne of their choice. As David announced their choice we found out it was a tie between Donnie and Debbie Collini's 1965 Mustang Fastback and Kenny and Susan Jones, 2008 Roush 427R. Now faced with a dilemma, David only had one trophy, so David flipped a coin and Kenny and Susan Jones won. Being fair minded David suggested that Kenny and Susan keep the trophy six months then turn it over to Donnie and Debbie for the next six months. This picnic was free to all club members, so plan to be there next year.

September in the Park 2009 "Monster Bash" - 9/10/2009 This years Pony Trail took the back roads around Carrollton to Bluegrass Motorsports Park for laps around the track. The track was freshly paved and the road course layout challenged even the experienced driver. After several laps our trail boss led us to Elk Creek Winery for a tour of the winery and a barbeque lunch. This year's car show was a smashing hit. We attracted Mustangs, Cobras, Focus and Vintage Fords. The participants ranged from sixteen to eighty years all who were proud to display their cars. The fun didn’t stop with the adults. The kids enjoyed train rides, snow cones and miniature golf. At the 2009 Monster Bash where Caulfield's Novelty decorated the hall, providing a frightening atmosphere for the banquet allowing everyone to have fun.
