About The Club

Founded: October 1989

In the fall of 1989, Gene Smith formed a Mustang Club in the Louisville Area.  Derby City Mustang Club became a MCA Charter member February 11, 1992.  Bill Collins Ford is our host sponsor and where we hold our monthly meetings.  Derby City Mustang Club prides itself on family, fun and friends and what a better way to bring them all together than with our passion for Mustangs.  We participate in day trips to local attractions, restaurants, parades and car shows in an effort to keep us active with our Mustangs.

Profits from Fordfest, the Derby City Mustang Club’s annual car show, support local charities such as the Salvation Army, Angel Tree, Kosair Charities, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Bill Collins Parkinson Fund, Honor Flight and Wounded Warriors Family Support.  We hope that in a small part our donations make life better for the less fortunate.

While we support all local, regional and National Mustang car events, we are focused on our people, more than our cars. Our goal is to socialize, have fun, and support our community in any way possible. Some of our members own top-of-the-line, tailored show cars, while others own daily driven Mustangs.

Our club has over 140 active member families. Ownership of a Mustang is not required to become a member, just an appreciation for this classic car. We extend one year free membership to all Active Duty Military Personnel.  Everyone is encouraged to join us the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM for our monthly meeting at Bill Collins Ford.  For more information check out our website or follow us on Facebook.
